This time I’m going to talk about new horror movies, which I recently watched. I heard everyone talking about this new movie for a while, called ‘The Boy II’, but I never had time to watch it. Today I finally found some time and I was very exited to see it, because I watched part I 4 years ago and I really like it, so I had high hopes for part II.
I remember part I very well, because I watched it 2 or maybe more times and it was interesting movie, not just some another story about haunted doll. The plot goes about young woman, who gets nanny’s job in huge, old, of course, creepy house, where she has to take care of little boy. Old couple living there, introduces her with their son when she arrives, who is, in her biggest surprise, not a real boy, but a doll. The couple asks to take care of their son, gives her main rules how to do it and leaves her alone with him. At first nanny took it as a joke, but all the weird things start happening with that doll, which makes her believe it’s real. I will not spoil what had happened in the end, but all I can say it was unexpected plot turn in the end, which nobody could expect.
So, because of good part I, I was expecting part II to be good as well, but in my disappointment, it wasn’t. Like it usually is, it’s best for good movies to stay like it is, without making it into film series. All movie was kind of interesting, family moves into new house, boy, who survived trauma feels lonely, finds the same doll from part I and becomes very attached to it, but the ending was, were creators go wrong, making it something about demons and something about crazy neighbour killer. Katie Holmes was main character, who was one of the reasons I watched it.

Apart from ‘The Boy’, the was few more interesting movies released recently, like ‘Ready or Not’ about new bride, who gets married into rich family, which has tradition to play card games with new members of the family. Unluckily, girl picks up death car and crazy family stars hunting her around the house. Another movie I would like to mention is ‘Us’, which I watched 3 times already. It’s something different from other movies, showing us what could go wrong if we actually had our clones created. ‘Folk horror’ movie ‘Midsommar’ had a lot of fuss around horror movies lovers. Action is happening in Swedish festival deep in the forest, where American tourist quickly understand, that they will not leave the place alive.

Overall, there was few more good movies, but most of them this and last year were disappointing, which makes me wander, maybe Hollywood is just running out of good ideas for horror genre?
